Alcohol and Drug Counseling

Center for Open Recovery is pleased to offer counseling for individuals and couples. Our expertise is helping clients understand and re-establish their relationship with drugs and alcohol to create healthier, happier lives — free from the negative consequences of dependence, addiction and substance abuse. Please call our office (415) 296-9900 to schedule a session.

50 minute private individual or couple counseling sessions may be booked in advanced with a 24-hour cancellation period.

$70 per session

With trained and experienced staff on call and as a non-profit, we are able to keep our prices significantly lower (about 40-60% less) than the cost of an individual session with a private Alcohol and Drug Counselor – which typically range between $80.00 – $125.00 per session.

Please let us know if you require an itemized receipt to be reimbursed through your (FSA) flexible spending accounts or insurance provider, as is covered by your policy.

Center for Open Recovery Advantages:
We are one of the only centers in San Francisco that offers short-term and on-going private Alcohol and Drug Counseling sessions for individuals and couples.

All Center for Open Recovery Counselors are certified and experienced – never interns or students, as is commonly the practice at other area counseling centers.

While other centers may utilize interns to keep costs low and offer counseling as a means of training students– at Center for Open Recovery, we guarantee that clients work directly with seasoned counselors – never interns – providing the highest quality counseling and most valuable sessions possible.

We are able to keep our prices low for clients because our counselors are already on staff!

Counseling vs. Therapy:
Center for Open Recovery’s Alcohol and Drug Counselors are specifically trained to focus on and help resolve the challenges caused by addictions, dependencies and an unhealthy reliance on substances. While group sessions offer broad education and different perspective, private counseling provides a focused placed to deal with the specific challenges in your own life, to learn new tools, gain supportive feedback and develop a personal path towards a better future. You will find that as your relationship with alcohol and drugs change, so too the other challenging issues in life tend to become far less frequent and far more manageable.

While psycho-therapist usually seek to help clients uncover unconscious patterns through a variety of therapeutic modalities, at Center for Open Recovery our Counseling Sessions are designed to be engaging direct and dynamic conversations to identify patterns, challenge assumptions, offer insight, practice new behaviors while supporting lasting change.

Please contact our office by phone (415) 296-9900 or by email: to schedule an appointment.

When you contact us, you are welcome to request a counselor with whom you have previously worked and we will do our best to match your availability with theirs. Otherwise we will ask you some initial screening questions to find you the best match.

If your call is not immediately answered, please leave a message and a staff member will generally return your call within several hours to make an appointment. Emails are generally responded to within a day or two.
